What is ATEX?

Often referred to as ‘ATEX’, the ‘Atmospheres Explosibles’ legislation is formed by two European Directives which discuss potentially explosive areas, ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) and ATEX Directive (99/92/EC).

Any equipment designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must be certified to these two EU Directives. The ATEX Directive classifies the appropriateness of products for use in the three potentially explosive environment ‘Zones’. ATEX rated products are classified for use into different groups and categories, based on their appropriateness within different ‘Zones’.

ATEX rated glueboard flykillers are typically classified as Category 3, for use within Dust or Gas Zone 2 applications.
